Today was a very blah day. One of those days you can't really focus so it feels like nothing gets done. So, I took some photos.... on the floor... because why not?

At any rate you can see the sweater I picked up yesterday and my fabulous little spider brooch.

South Melbourne

Today, I had a half day shift at our South Melbourne op shop. I love going to the different shops and seeing the things that come in and the different set ups. South Melbourne is a really pretty area too with old, classic buildings juxtaposed with the modern city backdrop. 

After work, I got a headache and so I've just been reading The Walking Dead and relaxing in bed.

Vixen Dress

I'm really bad at this whole blogging regularly thing. So, in order to try to remedy that and also give myself a challenge, I've decided to blog every day this week. Starting today! 

Since posting yesterday, I've been obsessively working on a new dress! The fabric has been sitting in my stash for over 6 months and the dress has been one I've wanted to recreate since seeing it. 

It's this dress owned by Solanah of Vixen Vintage (since this is like the zillionth time I've mentioned her, I should say that she is a huge source of inspiration for me. She is not only stunning but also wonderfully creative, talented, and creates beautiful things.) I still have to hem it and tweak a few things here and there but it's looking pretty good! 

Too bad it's going to be too cold to wear it for a while yet.... Bright side is, it's lemon time! We've already had lemon pudding from some of this seasons lemons. Winter in Melbourne always gets so lovely and green!

Acorn Dress Prep

Recently, I've been on a huge sewing hiatus (at least it feels huge). It's been months where I just haven't felt like sewing. I've been knitting a fair bit and done some sewing but I haven't completed any projects recently. The last one I completed was about 2 months ago (my first hoodie yay!). 

Having worked the past four days in a row at the op shop, Friday night I came home and felt like I could tackle the sleeves on a dress that has been driving me crazy. I had broken through the creativity dam and the yearning to sew was flowing free! 

Last night, I bought some fabric off of Spoonflower and today I wanted to share how I plan dresses and keep my vision as I wait the 3 or so weeks it takes for the fabric to get printed in the USA and sent over to lilttle ol' me all the way in Australia. It's also just a fun, pretty way to document my projects.

The fabric is 'acorns|blue' by Miriam Bos (irrimiri) via Spoonflower and the pattern is Butterick B5813. All of this I note down on my design page. That way I can refer back to it if I want more fabric or to make another dress like it. 

Miss Fisher at Hanging Rock

Having been sick with a cold all this past week, I finally was feeling well enough for an outing. 

My parents and I took a picnic to Werribee Park for a little Sunday getaway. Though it looked like it was going to rain when we left the weather ended up being lovely and the sun even came out to play! 

I was feeling the Australiana vibe today and dressed in what felt like a mix between Miss Fisher's Mac and a Picnic at Hanging Rock schoolgirl.

Go Go Gryffindor!

Recently, I've been trying to clear out some of the projects on my looooooong list of things to make. This has involved finishing up half finished projects as well as doing some of the faster projects of things that I've been missing in my closet for a while now. The latter also crosses into finding tried and true knitting patterns that I can modify and change to suit my needs.

Which brings me to my Gryffindor Cardigan! I managed to finish this cardigan in just 5 weeks (Most of the time it takes me three months)! I'm really happy with how it turned out and that the pattern is simple enough to add things like inertia. Plus, it means I have a red cardigan!
Win, win, win!

 This one probably would have taken longer had I not decided to enter it into the Red Hill Show. My lovely grandparents, who live near there, offered to turn it in for me today and it gets judged tomorrow. I'm hoping to go to the show on Saturday if I can get off work.

I also entered in a dress that I had been working on (another "to finish" project) but
 I didn't get time to take photos before I sent it off.
